Business Development Intern
Drive business development activities at a fast-growing retail commerce tech company. Convert inbound and outbound leads into successful closures, plan and execute events, and build a strong foundation for a full-time career in sales and business development.
Role details
About the role
This internship is for someone at the beginning of their sales and business-development journey who wants to learn how retail commerce technology is sold, deployed and adopted at India's leading retail brands. You will work alongside the account executives and the marketing team on the whole outbound and inbound funnel — prospecting, qualifying, running the first conversations, and helping plan the events where our sales team meets its next customers.
It is a full-time, in-office internship at our Bangalore office. A strong internship converts into a full-time offer for the right candidate at the end of the term.
What you'll do
- Support the sales team in prospecting and qualifying inbound and outbound leads across our target verticals.
- Research target accounts, identify decision-makers, and build a clean, structured target-account list in the CRM.
- Run first-touch outbound outreach — email, LinkedIn and phone — and handle the initial qualification conversation with prospects.
- Help plan and execute industry events, roundtables and customer meets — from invite lists and logistics to on-ground execution and follow-up.
- Sit in on discovery calls with account executives and learn how to run a consultative sales conversation with a retail buyer.
- Keep the CRM clean and up to date, with disciplined activity logging so the team has a shared, honest view of the pipeline.
- Feed back what you hear from prospects — objections, competitor mentions, buying signals — so the team can sharpen the pitch.
What you'll bring
- A recent graduate or a student in the final year of an undergraduate / postgraduate programme in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Strong written and spoken communication in English; comfort with Hindi and a South-Indian regional language is a plus.
- A curious mind — genuinely interested in how retail works, how software is sold, and what makes a customer say yes.
- A structured approach to work — comfortable with spreadsheets, structured data and following a documented process.
- The willingness to pick up the phone and start a conversation with a stranger, and the resilience to do it again the next day.
Nice to have
- Any prior internship, freelance or club experience in sales, marketing, growth or event management.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, HubSpot, Salesforce or a similar CRM.
- Interest in SaaS, retail technology, or B2B enterprise sales as a longer-term career.
Why join us
You will learn how enterprise retail-tech is sold, from a team that has been doing it since 2015 across India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Interns work on real accounts, run real outreach, and take part in real closing conversations — not shadow work.
The internship is paid. A strong internship converts into a full-time offer at the end of the term for the right candidate.
